The Phare name (Fair) is the first initial and surname of Founder & Creative Director Petrina Hare. Derived from the ancient latin term for ‘beacon or lighthouse’ the Phare name pays homage to the ethical craftsmanship behind every pair of shoes.
Phare merges craftsmanship, quality and timelessness to achieve high-end fashionability and longevity at an affordable price. Unconfined to any particular genre or style, Phare generates its own aesthetic and sensibilities through considered design. Phare is anchored by the qualities that define the Phare woman: confidence, intelligence, elegance and complexity.
The Phare aesthetic is distinctively original, showcasing considered design that is highly functional and beautifully crafted. The design ethos is underpinned by an innate sense of luxury that merges quality with longevity.
Every Phare design is crafted by hand from Italian leather by 5th generation shoemakers based in Florence who manufacture for some of the top international luxury brands. Constructed to last over time, the designs are fashion conscious but far from trend driven, allowing the wearer to adapt each piece to their unique style.
With an extensive knowledge of accessories and fashion design, combined with solid retail experience, founder and Creative Director Petrina Hare established Phare with a desire to merge her unrivalled passion for design, leather and footwear.
Hare majored in Fashion Design at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia, and has over 18 years design experience, travelling the globe sourcing leathers for some of Australia’s preeminent fashion labels. Having led the accessories direction for high end labels such as Scanlan Theodore, to designing for commercial brands like Mimco, Hare recognised a gap in the shoe market that wasn’t being addressed. She wanted to create a shoe for women that merged high-end craftsmanship, a fashion sensibility with wearability and an affordable price. And so Phare was conceived.
